Homework,a necessary evil according to many teachers,has a lot of students tied up in knots1.Some students can never seem to get things turned in on time.In fact,many students do not even realize that they have homework until a friend from class texts them or they overhear2someone talking about what is due the next day.

The following tips should help you get your homework finished on time.

TIP 1:MAKE A PLAN

Make a to do list for your homework with the dates,the school subjects you are taking,and a whole lot of blank space to write down what your homework is.When you are packing up to go home at the end of the school day,all you have to do is check that to do list to see which books and folders need to go home with you so you will not miss out anything that you need to do that evening.

Some people hate using a to do list.That’s quite all right.One student I used to tutor kept a piece of paper in his pocket where he’d scrawl3his assignments4.It worked for him,so it was fine.

No matter which planning system you prefer,use it.Check off each item once you get it in your backpack.Your brain can only process so much information at a time,so you absolutely must write your homework down if you plan to complete it on time.

技巧1：制定計(jì)劃

制作一個(gè)家庭作業(yè)的計(jì)劃清單，寫下日期、科目并留下空白地方來(lái)記下你的家庭作業(yè)。當(dāng)你收拾東西準(zhǔn)備放學(xué)回家時(shí)，你所要做的就是打開你的計(jì)劃清單，看看哪些書和文件夾需要帶回家，這樣你就不會(huì)漏掉晚上你需要做的任何事情。

有人討厭使用計(jì)劃清單。那也沒(méi)關(guān)系。我以前教過(guò)的一個(gè)學(xué)生一直把作業(yè)潦草地寫在紙條上放到口袋里。這對(duì)他奏效，所以也是可以的。

不管你喜歡哪種方式都沒(méi)關(guān)系，但一定要制定計(jì)劃。每一件物品在放進(jìn)書包里時(shí)都要檢查一下。你的大腦一次只能處理這么多信息，所以如果你打算按時(shí)完成作業(yè)的話，就必須把你的作業(yè)記下來(lái)。

TIP 2:PRIORITIZE5YOUR HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS

All assignments are not created equal.I strongly recommend using a prioritizing system when you sit down at home with your homework.Try a system a little something like this:

A first assignment is of primary importance,such as studying for a major test coming up tomorrow,finishing a major project due tomorrow.A second assignment needs to be finished by the end of the week.A third assignment is ongoing and needs to be finished by test day or the end of the quarter.

Once you’ve prioritized the work you have to do,complete all the first assignments first,then the second,moving down as you go.

Ordinarily,you would start with the subjects you love,but that would be a big mistake.You should get the worst assignment over first.And completing the worst assignment first gets it off your mind,and makes everything that comes after it appear to be really,really easy.

技巧2：把你的家庭作業(yè)區(qū)分優(yōu)先次序

并非所有作業(yè)都是同等重要的。我強(qiáng)烈建議你在家里做家庭作業(yè)時(shí)要把家庭作業(yè)按優(yōu)先順序排好。你可以嘗試像下面這樣去排序：

排在首位的任務(wù)是最重要的，比如：明天的一個(gè)重要考試的準(zhǔn)備工作，或一個(gè)重要科目明天就要截止的作業(yè)。排在第二位的是需要在本周末之前完成的作業(yè)。排在第三位的是正在進(jìn)行中的，需要考試當(dāng)天或本季度末完成的任務(wù)。

你把必須要做的作業(yè)按優(yōu)先順序排列好之后，就要先完成所有排在首位的作業(yè)，然后是排在第二位的，像這樣繼續(xù)下去。

TIP 3:TAKE PLANNED BREAKS

Some people believe that sitting down to complete homework means that you literally park your behind in a chair and you don’t move it for the next several hours.That,my friends,is one of the worst study ideas in history.Your brain only has the capacity to stay focused for about 45 minutes(maybe even less for some of you).So,schedule your study time with breaks.Work for 45 minutes,then take a 10minute break to do whatever it is people your age like to do.Then,turn to work again and repeat.

Completing your homework on time is a learned skill.It requires some discipline6and not everyone is naturally disciplined.So,you have to practice checking that you have everything you need for homework when you are still at school,prioritizing your work and taking planned breaks.Isn’t your grade worth it?
