There was that time I wanted to be a fashion designer but gave up halfway through1）sewing my first shirt； that time I wanted to be a model but got bored after two2）gigs； and that time I wanted to be a rockstar but never learned to play my shiny new guitar.

The one thing I3）stuck with was drawing.

That’s why this “100 Days of Self Love” project was both such a joy and a challenge.

The rules I set for myself were simple： One4）self-portrait a day for 100 days. “Portrait” is a loose definition— there were some pretty5）abstract ones in the6）bunch— but the word “self”was the7）key.

Following my own advice， I wanted to achieve something outside of my day job. Not only did I get a8）sketchbook to9）cherish forever out of this project， but I also got a little better with my work10）ethic， improved my skills and gained some valuable lessons.

Plus， I proved to myself that I could do it. And I learned to look at myself.

In our11）selfie-obsessed culture， we take pictures of our faces all the time12）without a second thought. I wanted to explore the13）notion of “self” and see what I could learn.

I quickly realized in the process that I never really sat and analyzed my face. Have you？ All the14）curves， the15）features，the16）imperfections？

By about day 20th， I got a good sense of what I looked like— I could draw myself pretty well without a17）reference. My face was familiar to me—instead of just being the reflection in the mirror.

I also got tired of looking at myself. I could never get my nose right， and I wanted to draw something other than my face. The last 40 days were very hard.

Doing anything every day for 100 days is really difficult. And no one else cared about seeing my face 100 times. Most days， I would do them at night. If I knew I had plans at night， I would try to18）squeeze the drawing in during the day. Even if I was in the park or on the road.

19）Persistence20）paid off because I now proudly have a sketchbook filled with my face that I can cherish for years.

Even though I could have spent more time on some pieces， and even though I didn’t make it a daily habit21）for good， I’m still proud that I22）accomplished this project.

Sometimes life gets in the way， and we make so many excuses for ourselves， that it’s hard to reach any goal.

This project was a good reminder that if I set my mind on something— and if I’m actually23）passionate about it— I can do it.

It starts with the small goals. And if I can do this， what else can’t I accomplish？

我曾夢想成為一名時裝設計師，可是我在第一次縫制襯衫時，干到一半就放棄了；我曾夢想成為一名模特，但是在走了兩場秀之后我就感到無聊了；我也曾夢想成為一名搖滾巨星，然而我從未學會彈奏我那把嶄新閃亮的吉他。

我唯一堅持下來的事情，是畫畫。

這也是為什么這個“愛上自己100天”的計劃既是一件樂事，也是一個挑戰(zhàn)。

我為自己設定的規(guī)則很簡單：每天給自己畫一幅自畫像，堅持100天?！白援嬒瘛笔且粋€不嚴謹?shù)亩x—這當中有一些挺抽象的—但關(guān)鍵是為“自己”作畫。

我跟隨著自己的想法，只希望在自己的本職工作之余能有點小成就。通過這個計劃，我不僅能收獲一本值得永遠珍藏的素描本，還能修煉更好的職業(yè)道德，提升自己的繪畫技巧，獲得一些寶貴的經(jīng)驗。

同時，我向自己證明了我能行。我還學會了正視自己。

在這種自拍成癮的文化里，我們隨時想都不想就拍下了自己的臉。我想挖掘“自我”這個概念，看看自己能學到什么。

在作畫的過程中，我很快就意識到，我從未真正坐下來仔細端詳過自己的臉。你有這樣做過嗎？你觀察過自己臉部的曲線、特征，以及那些瑕疵嗎？

到了大約第2 0天時，我對自己的樣貌有了很好的認識—就算沒有參照物，我也可以很好地畫出自己。我熟悉自己的臉—而不僅僅是鏡中的那個映像。

不過，我也厭倦了看著自己。我總畫不好自己的鼻子，我想畫點別的東西，不想畫自己的臉了。最后的40天非常難熬。

任何一件事堅持連續(xù)做100天都非常困難。并且沒有人愿意把我的臉看上100遍。大多數(shù)時候，我會在晚上作畫。如果我知道晚上已有其他安排，我會試著在白天擠出時間畫畫。即便我是在公園里或者在路上。

功夫不負有心人，現(xiàn)在我自豪地擁有了一本畫滿了自己的臉的素描本，值得珍藏多年。

盡管我本應在某些畫像上再多花點時間，盡管我最終沒有把畫自畫像變?yōu)橛谰玫娜粘Ａ晳T，我依然為自己完成了這個計劃而感到驕傲。

有時候生活遇到了阻滯，我們會為自己編造許多借口，怨嘆達成目標太難。

這個計劃就是一個很好的提醒，如果我心中設定了某個目標—如果我真的有這股熱情—我就能成功。

用小目標打頭陣。如果我做到了，還有什么是我完成不了的呢？
