Invitation to Contribute to Our Journal and a Word on Our Anonymous Appraisal System

TheChineseJournalofClassicalStudiesis the first international journal in Chinese (published as a quarterly in the Chinese-speaking academic world) which is exclusively committed to the study and interpretation of classical scriptures of ancient civilizations. The journal has an English table of contents and English abstracts of the articles. The purpose of this journal is to establish an academic platform for classical studies in Chinese, thus enabling Chinese intellectuals to have a new approach to the traditional classics of Chinese and other civilizations.

The editorial board of our journal consists of Chinese classical scholars from 20 universities in Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and North America, and the honorary editors are Western famous classicists from 15 universities around the globe.

Facing in the current situation of Chinese civilization, this journal endeavors to have a thorough understanding of the four fields of the humanities, namely literature, philosophy, history, and classical philology, and to study, analyze, and interpret the perennial classics of Chinese, western, Hebrew and Arabic civilizations on the basis of concrete texts from a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspective.

Contributions are welcome throughout the year. We encourage scholars to contribute articles that are results of independent research and have not yet been published (essays which are already on the internet cannot be counted as first publication). Please take note of the following specifications:

1.This journal limits itself to two kinds of texts, namely essays and book reviews.The length of an essay should be 8000 to 12000 words, and that of a book review should be 3000 to 5000 words.

2.We do not accept texts in foreign languages or translations (except for special texts in foreign languages).

3.Please submit the article via electronic mail.We do not accept texts written on paper.

4.The author of an article must declare his or her real Chinese or English name and email address, but the author can decide on the name under which the article should be published.

5.All articles should be written in the original complex form of Chinese characters.

6.The author is responsible for his text.None of the articles represent the viewpoint of the editorial.

7.The journal will respond within three months and tell the author the result of the appraisal.If an author did not receive an answer after this time he is free to submit the article somewhere else.

8.After a preliminary appraisal by the editorial, every article will be anonymously evaluated by two members of our editorial board.The editor-in-chief will see to the articles according to the anonymous reviewing of our appraisers.

9.If an article has been published by our journal, the author receives two copies of the journal, but no other remuneration.

10.Format and processing of submitted articles:

1) The title in English and Chinese and the contact address of the author must be given (Chinese and western name, present position and contact address, telephone number, email etc.)

2) An abstract in Chinese and English must be provided (Chinese about 700 characters, with the corresponding English translation), key words in Chinese and English (five or six words)

3) The text and the footnotes should follow the Format ofTheChineseJournalofClassicalStudies(see http:// www.gudianyanjiu.org/submit.html)

4) At the end of a text the references should be enlisted, foreign names in alphabetical order, and Chinese names in the order of the number of strokes.
