Every day when I walk by the street， I always see the burrito①burrito 英 ［b?'ri?t??］ 美 ［b?'rito］ n. 墨西哥卷餅girl. I call her “burrito girl” because she runs a food truck that sells burritos. There are many food trucks like this in town， hers is only a small one.

Her burritos are nothing special at all. But what really amazes②amaze 英 ［?'me?z］ 美 ［?'mez］ vt. 使吃驚me is her persistent③persistent 英 ［p?'s?st（?）nt］ 美 ［p?'z?st?nt］ adj. 固執(zhí)的，堅持的；持久穩(wěn)固的procedure④procedure 英 ［pr?'si?d??］ 美 ［pr?'sid??］ n. 程序，手續(xù)；步驟of handling the burritos. She always unfolds⑤unfold 英 ［?n'f??ld］ 美 ［?n'fold］ vt. 打開；呈現(xiàn) vi.展開；顯露a wrapping paper before the burrito is ready， flattening⑥fl atten 英 ［'fl ?t（?）n］ 美 ［'fl ?tn］ vt. 擊敗，摧毀；使……平坦 vi. 變平；變單調(diào)every corner of the paper. She puts the burrito right in the middle of the paper， carefully wraps it up tight，tucks the paper corners so that it doesn't slip. Then she puts three napkins in a box， together with the burrito， two bags of ketchup on the left and two bags of mustard⑦mustard 英 ［'m?st?d］ 美 ［'m?st?d］ n. 芥末；芥菜；深黃色；強(qiáng)烈的興趣on the right. She seals the box and hands the box to me with a smile， and “have a nice day”.

It is not surprising for a burrito girl to be attentive⑧attentive 英 ［?'tent?v］ 美 ［?'t?nt?v］ adj.留意的，注意的for her work， but it really surprises me that she does the same thing like this over and over again every day. Every day I go get my lunch there， the burritos always look the same. Tightly wrapped， two bags of ketchup on the left and two bags of mustard on the right. Sometimes there is a line， every customer is served the same.

A burrito sells for only 8 dollars. Sometimes I wonder， how can she bear repeating this fixed procedure all day？ Doesn't she feel like a robot？ But every time， she just gives me a big smile like the Californian sun and says “have a nice day.”

When I'm tired of my work， I always think of the burrito girl. Even if it looks like a trivial work that does not even make any sense， doing it perfect can still be impressive.

每天我走在街上，都會看到這個賣墨西哥卷餅的女孩。我叫她“賣墨西哥卷餅的女孩”，因為她經(jīng)營一家賣墨西哥卷餅的小吃攤。城里有許多這樣的小吃攤，她這家算小的。

她的卷餅沒什么特別的。但令我刮目相看的是她對卷餅每道工序的持之以恒。她總是在卷餅快好時把包裝紙打開，將每個角弄平整。她把卷餅放在紙的正中間，小心地包緊實(shí)，折好角以免松開。接著她把三張紙巾和卷餅一起放在盒子里，兩包番茄醬放在左邊，兩包芥末醬放在右邊。將盒子封好后，她把它遞給我，附上“祝您今日愉快”的笑容。

一個賣卷餅的女孩專注工作沒什么好驚訝的，真正讓我驚訝的是她能日復(fù)一日地重復(fù)相同的動作。每天我到那兒去買午餐，墨西哥卷餅都做得一模一樣。包裝緊實(shí)，兩包番茄醬放在左邊，兩包芥末醬放在右邊。有時會排隊，每個顧客拿到的卷餅都一模一樣。

一個墨西哥卷餅只賣8美元。有時我在想，她怎么能忍受整天重復(fù)這樣機(jī)械的程序？她不覺得自己像一個機(jī)器人嗎？但每次她都會給我一個大大的微笑，就像加州的陽光一樣，對我說“祝您今日愉快”。

每當(dāng)我對工作感到疲憊，我都會想起這個賣墨西哥卷餅的女孩。即使一份工作看似瑣碎而無意義，完美地完成它仍能令人印象深刻。
