1.An old blacksmith has only one son, so his wife almost spoils him. In his teens, he just knows how to eat, drink and sleep every day.老鐵匠只有一個(gè)兒子。因此,夫人對(duì)兒子很嬌慣。兒子十幾歲了,每天還是只知道吃喝、睡覺(jué)。
2.The blacksmith gets old. He says, “From now on you should make money to raise yourself. Make a ruble, and I'll give you all my property.” 鐵匠老了。他說(shuō):“今后你要自己掙錢(qián)來(lái)養(yǎng)活自己。你掙來(lái)一個(gè)盧布,我就把遺產(chǎn)都給你?!?/p>
3.Mother gives the son a ruble and tells him what to do the next day.母親給了兒子一個(gè)盧布,并告訴他第二天怎么做。
4.The next day, the son gets out of the village, takes out the delicious food his mother prepared and begins to eat. In the evening, the son gets home, gives the money to his father and says,“Oh, I am tired, my waist is broken.” 第二天,兒子來(lái)到村外,取出母親給帶的好東西,大吃大喝。晚上,兒子回到家,將錢(qián)交給父親說(shuō):“哎喲,腰要累斷了?!?/p>

6.The next morning, the mother gives the son another ruble and tells him what to do. The son plays hard in the mountain for a whole day. At dusk, he runs home, bathed in sweat, and says,“I worked hard all day as an ox.” 第二天早晨,母親又給兒子一個(gè)盧布,告訴他怎樣去做。兒子痛痛快快地在山里玩了一天。傍晚,他跑到家,滿(mǎn)臉汗水地說(shuō):“我像牛似的勞動(dòng)了一天。”
7.He gives the money to the father and lies in the bed. The father looks at the money, then at the son. Father throws the money into the stove again, but the son wears no expression. Father says, “You can't cheat me.” 他把錢(qián)交給父親,就躺到床上。父親看看錢(qián),又看看兒子。父親又把錢(qián)扔進(jìn)爐子,兒子沒(méi)表情。父親說(shuō):“你騙不了我!”
8.The next day, the mother wakes up the son, and says,“If you want to get the property, you should go to work indeed.”第二天,母親叫醒兒子,說(shuō):“想得到遺產(chǎn),得真去做工了?!?/p>
9.The son takes the luggage to work in the town. He sieves sands, discharges ships...Several days later, the son gets back home, takes out a handful of rubles without a word. 兒子帶了行李到小鎮(zhèn)做工,篩沙子、卸船……幾天后,兒子回到家,一聲不響地掏出一把錢(qián)。
10.The father catches the money, watches it, and wants to throw it into the stove again. The son rushes up, and cries, “Don't burn the money. To make the money I worked so hard.” 老人接過(guò)錢(qián),看了又看,還要把錢(qián)扔進(jìn)爐子。兒子撲上前去,哭著說(shuō):“不能把我勞動(dòng)掙來(lái)的錢(qián)燒掉!”
11.Father pats the son on the shoulder, and says happily, “You will value the money you make.”父親拍著兒子肩頭,高興地說(shuō):“自己掙的錢(qián)會(huì)愛(ài)惜的?!?/p>
12.From then on, the son seems to be another man. He learns craft from the old blacksmith and becomes a young blacksmith. 從此,兒子像變了一個(gè)人,他跟老鐵匠學(xué)藝,成了小鐵匠。
