這座現(xiàn)代風(fēng)格的宅邸坐落于開普敦以北的90公里外，南非的西海岸邊。在這兒能坐享西海岸的無邊海景和沿岸沙丘的美麗景致，本案設(shè)計(jì)師Gavin Maddock更是稱此處為“絕妙的選址”。業(yè)主的訴求是在控制預(yù)算的前提下，將此房屋打造成一座既能欣賞海景又能滿足普通居住需求的宅邸。最終，本案格局被設(shè)計(jì)成一座600平米的矩形布局復(fù)式別墅，房子外部還帶有寬敞的室外生活空間。整座房子涵蓋了室內(nèi)外的起居室和餐廳、三間臥室、四間浴室、畫廊、休閑客廳、書房以及陽臺。無論身處哪個空間，都能遙望壯觀的海洋風(fēng)光。

房子的建筑結(jié)構(gòu)及室內(nèi)設(shè)計(jì)靈感都來自于西海岸的房屋樣式一一一座座簡潔樸素的白色房子，不禁讓人懷想起浪漫唯美的地中海建筑風(fēng)格。房屋由前部和背部兩個單元組成，它們都涵蓋了兩層樓，并由一條單層的畫廊所連接。因此，每個空間之間都能流暢地?zé)o縫過渡，也由此讓室內(nèi)外空間自然而然地連接起來。地面采用了混凝土飾面地板，與覆蓋了白色空心磚的墻面形成了強(qiáng)烈反差，同時(shí)也更加突出了室內(nèi)空間的垂直線條。

家具的尺寸、顏色與質(zhì)地都經(jīng)過了精心挑選，與室內(nèi)風(fēng)格保持和諧。沙發(fā)單元與餐桌都是為整個空間量身定制的。室外的家具尺寸也經(jīng)過了仔細(xì)斟酌，風(fēng)格簡潔質(zhì)樸。電視機(jī)以及所有音頻設(shè)備都藏于客廳的墻柜之中，并由一面鑲有鋼鐵框架的藝術(shù)畫滑動面板所遮擋。一面定制的壁爐被嵌在了不銹鋼壁架之后。

花崗巖磚被運(yùn)用在室外空間，其質(zhì)地及紋理都與遠(yuǎn)處沙丘的石塊遙相呼應(yīng)，給人一種仿佛身處于石塊階地上的感覺。它們的尺寸大小適中，與整體空間保持和諧，并與室內(nèi)空間的柔和質(zhì)感形成對比。

設(shè)計(jì)師力求簡化建筑的整體結(jié)構(gòu)，以擴(kuò)大觀景的視野，避免在“框架”中觀景。為了讓整體空間取得輕盈明亮的效果，備部分的比例及高度設(shè)計(jì)都尤為重要。因此，設(shè)計(jì)師將天花板的高度提升至3.3米，與天花板齊高的玻璃落地門窗勾勒出一個開闊而明亮的空間。這座宜居的住宅不僅擁有齊全的現(xiàn)代化生活設(shè)備，還有大片可供娛樂的空間，是南非西海岸邊的安寧一隅。

This contemporary home is located on South Africa's West Goast， 90 kilometers north of Gape Town. Taking full advantage of the oceanviews and responding to the coastal dune context， Gavin Maddock describes it as \"a spectacular site\". The brief called for a\"modern\"house with ocean views and observance of a budget， including the standard accommodation requirements. The result is a rectangulardouble storey structure of 600 square meters with imaginatively conceived outdoor living spaces. It comprises： three bedrooms， fourbathrooms， living and dining areas both inside and out， a gallery， casual living room， a study， decks and balconies. Ocean views existfrom virtually every room.

The architecture and interiors were inspired by the landscape of West Coast which is quite textural and typified by simple white housesand cottages， reminiscent of the Mediterranean. Both the front and rear pavilions are two storeys， joined by the gallery， which is a singlestorey element. There is a seamless flow between these spaces and a sense of uninterrupted connection between inside and outside. Thfloor slabs are off-form concrete， contrasting with the painted plaster of the walls， yet further expressing the vertical line.

The scale of furniture， their color and texture， were important to satisfy comfort levels. The unit seating and the dining table were customdesigned to complement the space. The external furniture pieces were chosen for their scale and simplicity. The TV and all audioequipment were concealed in the living room wall cabinet， behind the large steel framed sliding panel that accommodates a substantialartwork. A custom designed fireplace was recessed into a stainless steel ledge.

The granite tiles were selected for their texture and grain， which resonates with rocks in the distance， providing that external feel of beingon the terrace. Their size is proportionate to the space and contrasts with certain soft textures within the interior.

Striving to reduce the structure to its minimum so as to maximize views， there are no \"framed views\". To achieve the lightness of thespace， proportion and height were essential. Ceiling heights of 3.3 meters ensured this result， with full height sliding doors which retractinto the structure to form a singular space. The result is a serene home with large entertainment areas and all the mod cons.
