        MANUSCRIPT INFORMATION

        Scope of contributions

        We wel come manuscripts in C hinese or English on all aspects of acupuncture-moxibustion and tuina (massage) from any p art of t he worl d. We publ ish ori ginal research article, review article, case report.

        Submission

        Please submit copy of the manuscript by the web [http://116.228.206.14:4999/journalx_jatsen (Engli sh ver sion) or http://116.228.206.14:4999/journalx_jats (Chinese version)] to the editorial board. The journal prefers that t he ar ticle is composed using a 12 point font in Microsoft Word. Rejected manuscripts will not be returned to the authors, please leave manuscript for yourself.

        Previous publication or duplicate submission

        If a submission could be considered redundant or duplicative of a prev ious published work, a fu ll statement of such should be made t o t he ed itor. If du plicate publi cation is attempted without such not ification, editorial acti on m ay be t aken, including pro mpt r ejection of t he manuscript. Any subj ects discussed in t he sub mitted manuscript who have been mentioned in another publicati on shoul d b e not ed, w ith a reference to the previous work. If m anuscripts are under consideration by anot her publication, copies of possibly duplicative materials that are being considered elsewhere must be provided at the time of manuscript submission.

        AUTHOR INFORMATION

        Biographical and contact i nformation (including address, phone and fax numbers, e-mail address, and working place) for all authors must be initially provided.

        Authorship and group authorship

        Author should be considered to be someone who has made substantive intellectual contributions to a published study, and biomedical authorship continues to have important academic, social, and f inancial implications. Each au thor shoul d have participated s ufficiently in th e wo rk to t ake p ublic responsibility for appropri ate portions of the content. One or more au thors should be responsi ble for t he i ntegrity of the work as a whole from inception to published article.

        Authorship credit should b e based on: (1) substantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data; (2) drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and (3) final approval of the version to be publ ished. (1), (2), and (3) must all be met.

        If authorship of multicenter trials is attributed to a group, all members of the group who ar e named as authors should fully meet the above criteria for authorship. The group should jointly make decisions about corresponding author before submitting the manuscript for publicati on, and the other group members may be listed in an acknowledgment in which their function or contribution should be descr ibed. The correspondence author should be prepared to explain the presence and order of t hese individuals. I t is not the ro le of edi tors t o make au thorship decisions or to arbitrate conflicts related to authorship.

        Conflicts of interest

        When authors submit a manuscript, they are responsible for disclosing all financial and personal relationships that might bias their work and undermine the credibility of the journal, the authors, and of sci ence itself. To prevent ambiguity, authors must state explicitly wh ether poten tial conf licts exist in the manuscript on a conflict-of-interest noti fication pag e that follows the title page, providing additional detail, if necessary, in a cover letter that accompanies the manuscript. Editors may use information disclosed in conflict-of-interest and financialinterest statements as a ba sis for e ditorial decisions. Editors should publish this information if they believe it is important in judging the manuscript.

        Informed consent

        Before exper imenting on hu man subjects, authors shoul d obtain the statem ent of informed consent fro m the st udy participants.

        The study participants have a right to privacy that should not be violated without informed consent. Identifying information, including names, i nitials, or hospi tal numbers, should not be published in written descr iptions, phot ographs, or pedi grees unless the information is essential for scientific purposes andthe pati ent (or parent or gu ardian) gi ves wri tten i nformed consent for publication. Nonessential identifying details should be omitted. When informed consent has been obt ained, it will be indicated in the published article.

        Ethical requirement

        When report ing experi ments on hu man subjects, authors should i ndicate whet her the procedures f ollowed were i n accordance w ith th e Helsin ki Declaration. If doubt exists whether the resear ch was co nducted in accordance w ith the Helsinki Declaration, the authors must explain the rationale for their approach and dem onstrate that t he institutional rev iew body exp licitly approved the doubt ful aspects of the st udy. When report ing experim ents on animals, aut hors shoul d indicate whether the institutional and national guide for the care and use of laboratory animals was followed.

        EDITORIAL REVIEW AND PUBLICATION

        Peer review

        An editor reviews submitted manuscripts initially. Manuscripts with insufficient pr iority fo r publi cation are rejected pro mptly. Ot her manuscripts ar e sent to exp ert consultants for peer review. All the reviewers’ identities and the authors’ id entities are kep t anonym ous for each oth er. The manuscript under rev iew is not revealed to anyone other than peer rev iewers and editor ial staff. We encourage authors to suggest the names of possi ble reviewers, but we reserve the right of final selection. Reviewers are required to evaluate the manuscript and to return comments within two weeks.

        Rejected manuscripts

        Rejected manuscripts will not be ret urned to authors unless specifically requested.

        Editing

        Accepted manuscripts are c opyedited f irst by our editor according to our style (including tables and illustrations) and then by our translator or anot her rev iewer whose mother language is English for correcting syntax error and returned to the au thor for approval. Authors are responsi ble for all statements made in their work, including changes made by the editor and authorized by the corresponding author.

        Publication

        Authors ar e r equired to pay pub lication fee if their manuscripts are accepted for publication (unsolicited manuscripts).

        MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

        Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance w ith t he Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals by ICMJE (www.icmje.org).

        Title page

        The title page shoul d include t he article title, n ames and affiliations of all au thors, and correspondence bi ographical information on all authors. If an author's affiliation has changed since the work was done, list the new affiliation as well. Titles should be concise and descriptive. The name, address, telephone nu mber, f ax nu mber, and e mail address of the corresponding author should be addressed. Any grant support should be mentioned on this page.

        Provide an ab stract of no more t han 400 words. Incl ude information as applicable for the following headings:objective,methods,results, andconclusions.

        Underneath the abstract, provide 3-8 k ey words (preferably Medical Subject Heading terms, MeSH).

        Text

        Introduction: Provide a brief background for the article, including the rationale for the study or observation.

        Methods: Descri be t he sel ection of subjects, including demographics and st udy d esign. Identi fy the procedures in sufficient detail so ot hers may rep licate t he result s. Provide references to established methods and new techniques; provide the rationale for their use and also describe their limitations. Authors submitting review articles should describe the methods used to locate, select, extract, and synthesize data.

        Statistics: As necessary, descri be st atistical methods and provide appropriate indicators of error or un certainty. Specify any statistical software used.

        Results: Present results in a logical sequence.

        Conclusion: Emphasize important and new findings of the study. Include implications of the findings and their limitations.

        Discussion: The discussion should focus on the interpretation and si gnificance of t he f indings wit h conci se objective comments that describe their relation to other work in the area. It should not repeat information in part of results.

        Figure

        Give each figure a caption. For color figures, the resolution should be 300 dpi. For black and white figures, the resolution should be 500 dpi.

        Nomenclature and abbreviations

        Authors must conform to the Standard Acupuncture (Part 1 and 2) revised by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1991. The full term should appear at first mention, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. Standard units of measure are acceptable to abbreviate without expansion. When discussing particular products, it is preferable to use the nonproprietary (generic) name or descr iptive term throughout. If desi red, the brand name can be i ncluded parenthetically at first mention. Chinese h erbs shoul d be in Chinese ph onetic alphabet, followed by the Latin name in parentheses. The title of a book should be spelled in Chinese phonetic alphabet, followed by the English name in parentheses.

        References should be nu mbered consecutively in the text; present citations in numerical order to correspond with mention in the text.
