8. rely on（upon）依靠；依賴；信任；信賴

They have to rely on the river for their water.

他們用水只好依靠這條河。

（1） rely on sb doing sth 依靠某人做某事

Rely on me doing it.

（2） rely on sb to do sth 指望/相信某人做某事

You can rely on me to help you.

你盡管信賴我一定幫助你。

You cant just rely on your parents to support you.

你不能只指望你父母養(yǎng)活你。

比較：rely on和depend on的區(qū)別

兩者都有依靠的意思，rely on表示在過去經(jīng)驗的基礎(chǔ)上依賴、相信某人或某物，希望得到支持；depend on表示出于信賴而依靠某人或某物，以取得支持，但這種信賴可能以過去的經(jīng)驗或了解為依據(jù)，也可能沒有。

These days we rely heavily on computers to organize our work.
