設(shè)計(jì)博物館位于全新的開發(fā)區(qū)內(nèi)，其南側(cè)毗鄰深圳灣。設(shè)計(jì)的目的是創(chuàng)造一個(gè)超現(xiàn)實(shí)主題的空間并且?guī)Ыo人和周圍環(huán)境超然的體驗(yàn)。室內(nèi)設(shè)計(jì)依附于一個(gè)連續(xù)的、沒有投影、沒有厚度的白色曲面。從而形成了一個(gè)超現(xiàn)實(shí)的無邊界空間，讓人聯(lián)想到詹姆斯·特瑞爾的裝置藝術(shù)。由此產(chǎn)生的效果好似云中霧里。建筑變成了一個(gè)極簡純凈的背景，僅僅有一些隨機(jī)散落的三角形小窗戶跳躍在其上。普通認(rèn)知上的汽車看起來重量感十足，但是在這個(gè)無限的空間里它變得沒有質(zhì)量，從而徹底顛覆正常博物館空間經(jīng)驗(yàn)，外部有形但內(nèi)部空間無限，給人一種超現(xiàn)實(shí)的感受。這種態(tài)度映射出中國傳統(tǒng)園林的設(shè)計(jì)理念——小中見大。建筑通過一系列的對比建立其存在的理由，單純的形式與繁雜的商業(yè)建筑背景的對比，自身的公共性與周邊的私密性的對比，其文化性與商業(yè)性之間的對比，輕盈及漫反射的外表與周邊厚重內(nèi)向之間的對比。單純漫反射的金屬表面時(shí)刻都在捕捉著周圍發(fā)生的一切，伴隨著陽光從早到晚不同的變化，使其本身既融入到周邊的環(huán)境之中，又展現(xiàn)出建筑自身的謙遜、開放、臨時(shí)、可變的特征。

The inspiration for the project came from the context-the bay site-and the desire for a surreal exhibition space. The goal was to create a space that was conceptually surreal and transcendental in as an experience. The design of the museum interior relies on a continuous white curving surface that casts no shadows and reads no depth. The result is a boundless space that seems to continue infnitely, a feeling akin to that of a James Turrell installation. The building becomes a blank surreal background pierced only by randomly scattered small triangular windows-like birds in flight. Typically an automobile looks very heavy but, placed in this limitless space, it becomes weightless and its curves, shadows and intense colors become the focal point of the show. The frst foor of the building holds the entry lobby and café. The second and third foors are mainly exhibition space. Storage space is distributed evenly through the building and movable walls allow exhibition spaces to be highly flexible in scale and function. The metallic shell of the exterior creates a finite edge and acts in contrast to the surprising infinite white interior. The smooth organic form creates a diferent yet surreal feeling when compared to its urban setting. The building form resembles a smooth stone that's been cast far from the shore, displaced to this saturated urban setting.
