Large Scale Ethylene Production Package Technology Successfully Developed by CNPC

The CNPC Group has successfully developed a largescale ethylene production package technology with independent intellectual property rights, which has been successfully applied in the 1.2 Mt/a ethylene revamp and expansion project at the Daqing Petrochemical Complex (DPC).

It is learned that this major project “The development of large scale commercial package technology for ethylene production” was envisaged in the 2008 Important Science and Technology Plan. The large-scale package technology for ethylene production developed thereby has broken the monopoly of overseas patent vendors in the field of ethylene production, and several core techniques have filled in the domestic gap. The 1.2 Mt/a ethylene revamp and expansion project at DPC was put on stream in October 2012 at the first attempt, and had passed the 72-hour full-load performance testing in 2013. Till now this ethylene production unit has been smoothly operating for nearly two years, with the ethylene and propylene yield, the overall energy consumption and the heat efficiency of steam cracker all reaching an internationally advanced level.
