“Other athletes are swimming, while he is flying!” “He is totally a swimming genius!” People who watched his games couldnt help exclaiming[驚呼]. His extraordinary[出色的] performance greatly surprised the world and was thought to be a legend[傳奇] in swimming history. He is just Michael Phelps, an American“superfish”, who got eight gold medals and broke seven world records in Beijing Olympics.
To many people, the 23-year-old, handsome, young man must have inherited[繼承] the gift for swimming from his father who was also an excellent swimmer. His coach[教練] found he was a rare swimming genius when he was young, for small Phelps could easily acquire[學(xué)到] some skills which other teenagers couldnt master. Besides, Phelpss exceptional[非同一般的] physique[體格] is said to be the most perfect figure for swimming. He is 1.87 meters tall, while his arms span 2.01 meters long. His much longer upper body, relatively short legs, big-size feet and hands are all advantageous[有利的] to swim.
However, any inborn advantage cant function[起作用] without acquired diligence[勤奮]. As we know, “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration[汗水].” Accordingly, a “Genius” in fact is usually a talented person who has done all his or her homework. Phelps is just such a person. “Nobody is more diligent than me!” said Phelps. He said, and he did. Until now he still keeps the habit of getting up at 5 oclock in the morning to start training and never has a halt[停頓]. In the past seven years, he just didnt swim in only seven days. Obviously, it is the continuous[不間斷的] industry and endeavor[努力] that make Phelps get such remarkable achievements.
The glory[榮耀] of a champion[冠軍] is worth our envy, while how to be a champion is worth more our consideration[[思考]. I believe we can gain some inspiration from the success of Phelps.
彼f(shuō)了,并且做到了。
