        Profile of the show

        Held in China International Exhibition Center (New Venue) from February 14 to 17, the 14th China International Expo for Auto Accessories, Electronics, Tuning Car Care Products (CIAACE2012) is one of the most famous platforms of China’s auto aftermarket industry. It is the biggest expo for auto electronics, accessories, tuning and car care products in China. The show drew 6,103 exhibitors and 221,864 visitors from home and abroad, who were very excited about what they saw. 20,316 billion yuan worth of deals were closed at the show.

        The expo is divided into six product sections: auto electronics, auto interior exterior accessories, car care products, auto tuning, and other auto related products. National pavilions from Taiwan, Korea and Japan among others were also present. In addition, the CIAACE provided exhibitors and attendees with a number of relevant events such as the Forum on China Auto Consumption, the Release of New Products, and the networking events.

        As one of the most influential international auto aftermarket expos, CIAACE attracts the attention from the businesses of auto aftermarket worldwide and get the support from the Chinese government. The expo since 2010, has received subsidies from the country’s Ministry of Commerce to be used for the benefits of exhibitors. To date it is the only expo that has received such a subsidy. CIAACE plays an important role for Chinese government in applying industry regulations and policies. Highlights

        The show attracted almost all of the big brands in the industry, who unveiled 18,000-plus kinds of new, innovative products in areas such as automotive entertainment systems, car alarms, rims, car cleaning products, tires, windshield wipers, etc. Like the past exhibitions, around 85% of new auto products were unveiledat the show in each spring. More and more manufacturers would like to choose CIAACE as their first choice of platform to present their new products.

        Companies used many ways to attract the attention of buyers and visitors.

        Exporting Chinese companies turn to the domestic market

        Two auto interior accessories exhibitors Omeok and Sumek were very popular at the show. They told the reporter that their products used to be exported. However, they started to target the domestic market now that the foreign demand has been shrinking. They were optimistic about the potential of China’s market for auto accessories.

        Refit vehicles attracted a lot of attention at the show. The following are some of the refit cars on display.

        Development trend of the industry

        During the show, a report on the development trend of Chinese auto accessories industry was released. According to the report, 430 billion yuan worth of auto accessories were sold in the Chinese market in 2011, and the figure is expected to exceed 550 billion yuan in 2012. Specifically, the sales of auto maintenance and beauty products are seeing rapid growth and are expected to reach 148 billion yuan in 2012; as they are not consumables, the increase of auto electronics sales will slow down after explosive growth, with their sales forecast to be about 180 billion yuan; market need for the solar film is also slowing down and its sales are expected to be only 39 billion yuan; auto interior products will account for 30% of the total sales to reach 165 billion yuan; the sales of auto exterior products are expected to reach 6.05 billion; the modified products, due to its high requirement of technology, are mainly sold in the first-tier cities. Their sales are forecasted to be about 21.45 billion yuan.

        The report also shows that the consumption of auto accessories took on distinctive regional characteristics. In the first-tier cities, car owners’primary concerns are comfort, price and quality. They have developed a liking for individualistic products that represent their good taste. In the second- and third-tier cities, new cars sales continue to rise. Consumers are not sensitive to car accessory brands. Products essential to new cars sell well.

        The show was held by YASN International Exhibition Co., Ltd. Witnessing the success of this exhibition, the organizers are very optimistic about the 15th CIAACE to be held in Chongqing from May 26 to 28, 2012. The next show will be held in the same place in Beijing from March 1 to 4, 2013.
