Mentioning low carbon and green economy, people will just think about the energy sector, actually, low carbon and green concept has penetrated into every industry. At the China International Green Industry Expo 2010, the reporter found that “green” nearly could be found in every industry, ranging from the oil paint, fabrics, to buildings etc.Small orange peel with big useUsually after eating an orange, the thing you most probably do would be throwing the orange peel in the dustbin. It is hardly for you to imagine that be- hind the useless peel hides a big industry. Would you associate the orange peel with the oil paint? I suppose the answer would be probably “no”.At the Expo, Tianjin Liuhong Scientific and Development Co., Ltd. exhibited an oil paint product, which is made from no other than the orange peel. This magic oil paint naturally aroused much audience. Zhang Gang, General Manager of this company told the reporter that the small orange peel could have big business. They had cooperated with one Sichuan juice producing company, taking all the orange peels after juice processing and making them into oil paint. Through the preliminary processing, orange peel oil could be exacted, which then is transported to Tianjin for deep processing. And the final products are oil paint, dope, solvent, detergent, adhesive and orange peel plates etc. “In the past, it cost RMB 300 to 400 to bury one ton of orange peel, while now the waste orange peel is made into green products through deep processing,” said Zhang Gang. “The orange deep processing industrial chain has a promising future.” The green technology not only consumes the so-called waste, but also gives birth to new industry, bringing benefit.Scrap plastics made into fine fabricsNow people’s clothes are more and more fashionable and beautiful, and this for part is attributed to the development of fabrics. And now at the Expo, the reporter found that environmentally friendly and low-carbon fabrics have become a new trend. At the booth of Teijin Group, the reporter saw two sports shirts, one black and one white, feeling quite soft and light. The staff of Teijin told the reporter that these two shirts were made of a special fabrics with great comfort and good air permeability. To the reporter’s surprise, this fabrics is made from the recycled plastic bottles, the waste plastic stationery. Compared with the ordinary fabrics, producing such a piece of clothes could reduce 80% CO2 emission. Some companies also exhibit some equipm e n t f o r energy-saving equipment, resource recycling and clean production in garment processing fields.Green house not far in the futureA t t h e pavilion of Velux (China), a building model called “green light tower” attracted much audience. It not only can run using the solar energy, but also is upgraded from “passive energy saving”to “active energy saving”. The window can automatically “feel” the sunshine outside and the temperature inside. When the temperature reaches the given limit, it will automatically pull down the window. In the eco-demonstration area, Hammarby Eco-City was very appealing to the audience. The staff at the pavilion told the reporter that the eco-city is an example of completely integration of waste processing,, energy saving, water supply and sewage processing. In the eco-city, solar energy is widely used, and wind power stations are also built in the city. The residents in the city put the sorted waste into different vacuum pipe, of which the entrance is built in the house of the residents. When the waste are transported to the collecting point, it, through special processing such as fermenting etc, then could be used to generate ther- mal energy and electricity. What’s more, the microorganism deposited in the river course is also collected for generating thermal energy and electricity. 95% household waste could be collected for recycling use in Harmarby, which is most worthy of learning. Harmarby will prepare the new residents three gifts: organic waste dustbin, biolysis garbage bag and energy saving electric bulb. So residents there all fostered environmentally friendly habit in their daily life. The heat produced in processing the waste water could be used by the energy department, or else used for heating. And the other solid waste is used as manure for the agricultural industry or the gardening. The residents in Hammarby have one slogan—From Toilet to Omelet. It means that the waste water discharged from the toilet will be processed into methane, which mostly is supplied for the bus and part of which is also used as stove fire for cooking.“Hammarby ecocity turns a new leaf before my eyes. The initiator is Sweden’s federation of real estate developers. The developers in China also should make more tries in this aspect,” one real estate developer audience said.
