La Mauny

La M auny distiller produces exclusively premium rhum agricoles.Agriole rhum is made from the fermentation and distillation of pure fresh sugarcane juice. Ten kg of sugar cane are needed to produce one liter of agricole rhum.

This traditionalrhum-making process results in a far superior prem ium product w ith a unique aroma. La Mauny is one of the few exclusive distilleries worldw ide to produce this rum, as over 95 percent of the world’s rum is industrial rum made from molasses (a by-product of cane sugar production).

Established by Count de Mauny in 1749,the La Mauny Estate is part of Martinique’s historical heritage. Located in Rivière Pilote,in the south of Martinique, the sunniest part of the island, the plantation is renowned for the beauty of its terroir and its warm climate.As a pioneer of authentic top-quality plantation rhums, the La Mauny distillery was one of the fi rst on the island to turn to the production of rhums agricoles.

NSW w ine

This is the second year that NSW w ine industry sent a delegation to the Hong Kong International W ine & Spirits Fair held on November 3-5. This year, 10 NSW w ine producers participated in the trade mission.

The NSW Government strongly supports the development of export opportunities for the expanding production of high quality and diverse wines from the various w ine producing districts in the state. NSW is Australia’s second largest w ine producing state and is a very important contributor to the national economy. NSW represents around 34 percent of the $5 billion national w ine industry,turning over more than $1.5

billion annual. NSW is also home to seven of Australia’s top 20 exporters. Currently, there are over 450 wineries in NSW across 14 regions.

The Chinese w ine market is grow ing rapidly and Australia is currently the second largest exporter of w ine to China, after France. M any o f NSW w ine varieties complement Asian cuisine and therefore the NSW Government is assisting its w inemakers to promote w ine consumption in the Asian market.

NSW wine export to China has grown at an average annual rate of more than 232 percent, and to Hong Kong at 20 percent over the past five years. These markets continue to show strong grow th in volume, value and price per liter unlike many other markets.

The NSW Government’s Asia W ine Strategy aims at promoting NSW w ines in Hong Kong and first and second tier cities on China’s mainland. To date, the NSW Government has led three trade m issions to Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing, as well as promoting wines to w ine buyers in second tier cities.
