Teacher:John,how do you spell“crocodile”?
John:“K-R-O-K-O-D-A-I-L”.
Teacher:No,that’s wrong.
John:Maybe it’s wrong,but you ask me how I spell it!
老師:約翰,你是怎么拼讀“crocodile”的?
約翰:“K-R-O-K-O-D-A-I-L”。
老師:拼錯(cuò)了。
老師:也許是我拼錯(cuò)了,但您不是問,我是怎么拼的嗎!
Teacher:Cindy,why are you doing your maths sums on the floor?
Cindy:You told me to do it without using tables!
老師:辛迪,你為什么在地上做算術(shù)題啊?
辛迪:您不是要我不在桌子上做嗎!
(注:table 有兩個(gè)含義:(1)桌子;(2)乘法)
Teacher:In this box,I have a 10-foot snake.
Sammy:You can’t fool me.Teacher...snakes don’t have feet.
老師:在這個(gè)盒子里有一條10-feet的蛇。
薩米:您別愚弄我了。老師……蛇沒有feet啊。
(注:feet有兩個(gè)含義:(1)腳;(2)長(zhǎng)度單位,英尺)
“If there are any idiots in the room,will they please stand up?”said the sarcastic teacher.
After a long silence,one freshman rose to his feet.“Now then,sir,why do you consider yourself an idiot?”
Inquired the teacher with a sneer.“Well,actually I don’t,”said the student,“but I hate to see you standing up there all by yourself.”
一位老師挖苦地對(duì)學(xué)生說道:“如果這個(gè)教室里有白癡的話,他們會(huì)愿意站出來嗎?”
教室里一片寂靜后,一個(gè)大一新生站了起來:“那么,老師,您為什么認(rèn)為您自己是一個(gè)白癡?。俊?/p>
老師嘲笑道:“事實(shí)上,我并不這么認(rèn)為?!?/p>
學(xué)生回答道:“但是我討厭看到您總是這么一個(gè)人站著那里。”
