Hugh Jackman has been working hard lately. After his first stint[指定的工作] as Oscar host， he turns his attention to X-Men Origins: Wolverine， which opens May 1st. The fourth installment[部分] of the comic-book adaptation finds Jackman

wearing not just the steel claws of the character， but also the producer’s hat.

Jackman says that while he has always been grateful for the movies’ success – they have grossed[總共賺得] more than $1.1 billion and cemented[鞏固] his leading-man status –

he has disagreed with the development of Wolverine’s character over the years.

“I thought he had gotten a bit soft，” Jackman says. “I thought we had gotten away from the essence[本質(zhì)] of who Wolverine really is: a bad dude[男人，家伙] who wants to live his own life.”

Jackman says he decided to tackle producing

because he wanted “to own up to[承認(rèn)……] the responsibility

of this character. I wanted to put myself into this movie in every way possible. This is the movie that I’ve seen in my head for a long time.”

Wolverine looks at the origins of the beast with anger-management issues[問題]， plus several of his

mutant[生化突變種] colleagues， including Sabretooth，

Deadpool and Gambit.

Jackman says he fell in love with the Wolverine

character a decade ago.

“The character has always reminded me of Dirty Harry注1 or Han Solo注2，” Jackman says. “He’s a good guy， not a nice guy. He’s got a lot of flaws[缺點(diǎn)]， which I think is what people find so attractive about him and the X-Men. He’s struggling with who he is and what he wants. puncture wounds and severe[嚴(yán)重的] burns. And like any good cat， he has acute[敏銳的] senses of sight， hearing， smelling and taste.

Says Jackman: “They were close in the beginning， but they begin to drift apart. He’s like the brother who shows up every birthday to kick your butt to remind you who is boss.”

Kayla Silverfox (Lynn Collins)

Superpowers: Silverfox’s only known power is

accelerated[加速] healing of other mutants. The speed and extent of her healing factor is superior[勝過……的] to that of

Wolverine and Sabretooth， making her tougher to beat. She is an experienced marksman[神射手] and skilled at hand-to-hand combat.

Says Jackman: “She has a tragic romance with Wolverine. It’s that romance that really puts the story into motion.”

Remy LeBeau/Gambit (Taylor Kitsch)

Superpowers: Gambit has explosive powers. He also has superhuman agility[敏捷] – and charm. He has power over the weaker-minded to gently force them to believe what he says or agree with what he suggests.

Says Jackman: “He’s such a great character; we’ve been trying to get him in X-Men since the second movie.

He starts off as a pest[討厭的人]， but their relationship is a little gray. He’s not quite friend or foe.”

Wade Wilson/Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds)

Superpowers: Deadpool has regenerative[再生的]

powers like Wolverine and Sabretooth， though he uses more high-tech gadgetry[小玩意] than his colleagues. Skilled in hand-to-hand combat and marksmanship， Deadpool has a teleportation[遠(yuǎn)距傳物] device[裝置] to get him out of (and into) trouble.

Says Jackman: “The action scenes Ryan has with swords are unbelievable. By the end of the movie， they are definitely foes.”
