Everyone respects and 1)helps the millionaire， the famous， the boss， those with beauty and brains. What about the 2)bum on the street?

I was parked in front of the church cleaning out my Jeep. I was waiting on someone. Coming my way from across the street was what society would consider a bum. From the looks of him， he had no car， no home， no clean clothes， and no money.

There are times when you feel generous but there are other times that you just don’t want to be bothered. This was one of those “don’t want to be bothered times.”

“I hope he doesn’t ask me for any money，”

I thought. He didn’t. He came and sat on the wall in front of the bus stop to wait on the bus. After a few minutes he spoke. “That’s a very pretty Jeep，” he said. He was ragged but he had an air of dignity around him. His

3)scraggly blonde beard kept more than his face warm. I said， “thanks，” and continued cleaning out the Jeep.

He sat there quietly as I worked. The expected plea for money never came. As the silence between us widened something inside said， “ask him if he needs any help.” I was sure that he would say “yes” but I held true to the inner voice.

“Do you need any help?” I asked.

He answered in three simple but profound words that I shall never forget. We often look for wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from those of higher learning and accomplishments. I expected nothing but an outstretched 4)grimy hand. He spoke the three words that shook me.

“Don’t we all?” he said.

I was feeling 5)high and mighty， successful and important， above a bum in the street， until those three words hit me like a twelve 6)gauge shotgun. Don’t we all?

I needed help. Maybe not for bus fare or a place to sleep， but I needed help. I reached in my wallet and gave him not only enough for bus fare， but enough to take a cab anywhere in the city and get food and shelter for the day.

Those three little words still ring true. No matter how much you have， no matter how much you have accomplished， you need help too. No matter how little you have， no

matter how loaded you are with problems， even

without money or a place to sleep， you can give help. Even if it’s just a compliment， you can give that.

You never know when you may see

someone that appears to have it all. They are waiting on you to give them what they don’t have. A different perspective on life， a glimpse at

something beautiful， a 7)respite from daily chaos， that only you through a torn world can see.

Maybe the man was just a homeless stranger wandering the streets. Maybe he was more than that. Maybe he was sent by a power that is great and wise， to minister to a soul too comfortable in themselves. Maybe God looked down， called an Angel， dressed him like a bum， then said， “go minister to that man cleaning the Jeep， that man needs help.”

每個(gè)人都會(huì)對(duì)大富豪、名人、老板，以及才貌雙全的人表示敬意，并樂(lè)意為之服務(wù)。那么，人們又會(huì)如何對(duì)待街頭的流浪漢呢？

我把我的吉普車?？吭诮烫们安料?，邊洗邊等人。街對(duì)面有個(gè)人朝我的方向走過(guò)來(lái)，通常我們的社會(huì)將其稱之為流浪漢。從外表看上來(lái)，他就是那種沒(méi)車、沒(méi)家、沒(méi)干凈衣服，而且沒(méi)錢的人。

有時(shí)候你會(huì)想表現(xiàn)得慷慨大方，不過(guò)有時(shí)候你偏偏不愿被人打擾。而現(xiàn)在，我正處于“別來(lái)煩我”的時(shí)候。

“希望他別跟我要錢，”我想道?？墒撬麤](méi)有。他走過(guò)來(lái)坐在車站前的墻上等候公車。過(guò)了幾分鐘，他開口說(shuō)話了?！斑@吉普車很漂亮，”他說(shuō)。他衣衫襤褸，周身卻帶著一絲高貴的氣息。他那蓬亂的金色胡須讓他整個(gè)人透出幾分暖意。我回答說(shuō)：“謝謝?！苯又^續(xù)擦洗我的吉普車。

在我忙活的時(shí)候，他靜靜地坐在那里，卻沒(méi)有像我想象中那樣向我要錢。隨著我們之間的沉默越來(lái)越久，我內(nèi)心的某處對(duì)我說(shuō)：“問(wèn)問(wèn)他是不是需要幫助吧！”我敢肯定他會(huì)說(shuō)“是”，但最后我還是聽(tīng)從了內(nèi)心的召喚。

“你需要什么幫助嗎？”我問(wèn)。

他回答了六個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單卻意味深長(zhǎng)的字，讓我永生難忘。我們常常期待從偉人們那里得到智慧。我們期待從有學(xué)識(shí)、有成就的人那里得到智慧。而這一次我什么都沒(méi)期待，除了一只伸出來(lái)要錢的臟兮兮的手。然而他卻說(shuō)出了六個(gè)讓我震驚不已的字。

“有誰(shuí)不需要呢？”他說(shuō)。

在這個(gè)街邊的流浪漢面前，我一直都趾高氣揚(yáng)、高高在上地覺(jué)得自己是個(gè)有成就非凡的人物，直到他那幾個(gè)字像支12口徑的獵槍一般擊中了我。有誰(shuí)不需要呢？

我需要幫助。也許不是公車錢或棲身之所，但我需要幫助。我掏出錢包給了他一些錢，這些錢不僅足夠他付公車費(fèi)，而且足夠他打的士去這個(gè)城市的任何地方，并吃住一天。

那幾個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單的字現(xiàn)在依然顯得無(wú)比正確。無(wú)論你多么富有，無(wú)論你多么有成就，你也需要幫助。無(wú)論你多么貧窮，無(wú)論你面臨著多少問(wèn)題，即使既沒(méi)錢又沒(méi)地方住，你依然能幫助他人。即便只是一句贊美，你依然能夠付出。

你永遠(yuǎn)都不會(huì)知道，也許你將遇到一個(gè)看起來(lái)什么都不缺的人，然而他們卻在等待你給予他們所不曾擁有的東西。一種不同的人生觀，一種發(fā)現(xiàn)美的眼光，或是對(duì)日?；靵y生活的片刻逃離，那是在這個(gè)撕裂的世界中只有你才能看見(jiàn)的不同。

也許那個(gè)人只是一個(gè)無(wú)家可歸、在街邊游蕩的陌生人。也許他不僅僅如此。也許他是被冥冥中的某種強(qiáng)大而有智慧的力量送來(lái)的，來(lái)幫助那些過(guò)于安逸的靈魂。也許上帝俯視人間，接著招來(lái)一位天使，把他打扮成流浪漢的模樣，然后說(shuō)：“去幫助那個(gè)在擦洗吉普車的人吧，他需要幫助！”
