Lu Ben is a student in Class Four of Grade Three. His father is a manager. He doesn’t have breakfast at home. He goes to work early. He comes back very late after he has dinner in a restaurant. His mother is a businesswoman. She is busy making money all day. She leaves home in the morning and comes back in the evening. They don’t care（關心）about Lu Ben’s studies.

Lu Ben goes to school without breakfast and he has lunch at school. He makes many friends at school. He is the head（頭頭） of them. He leads（帶領） his friends to play basketball，football and to go swimming after school. He is very happy. He donesn’t think about his studies. He doesn’t do well in his lessons.

One afternoon in June，when Lu Ben gets home，his mother is waiting for him in the sitting-room.

“Do you celebrate your graduating（畢業(yè)慶典）？”asks his mother. “Tell me all about it. ”

“All the students graduate except（除……外）me. ”answers Lu Ben with a smile.

“Why?”asks his mother again.

“My teacher likes me very much. So she wants me to study in Grade Three for another year. ”answers Lu Ben slowly.
