一、used to 的基本用法

它表示“過去經(jīng)常，以前常?！保岛囊馑际沁^去做某事，現(xiàn)在不干了。

We used to go there every year. 我們每年都去那兒。

He is not what he used to be. 他已不是舊日的他了。

This used to be a shabby house. 此房年久失修。

There used to be two trees in front of the house.房子前面曾經(jīng)有兩棵樹。

二、used to的否定句、疑問句和反意疑問句形式

注意used to的否定句、疑問句和反意疑問句的形式都可以有兩種。例如：

She used not to be so forgetful.

She didn’t use to be so forgetful. 過去她沒這么健忘。

Used you to play football?

Did you use to play football? 以前你常踢足球嗎？

You used to like opera， didn’t you？你過去喜歡歌劇，是嗎？

There used to be a church here，usedn’t there？過去這里有座教堂，是不是？

三、used to和would用法的異同

used to和would這兩個詞語都可以表示過去常做某事，有時可以換用。

Our dog， Rex， used to/would sit outside our front gate and bark. 我們的狗雷克斯過去常蹲在大門外吠叫。

He used to/would spend every penny he earned on books． 過去，他通常把掙來的錢全花在買書上。

used to和would的區(qū)別主要有以下兩點(diǎn)：

（1）would表示反復(fù)發(fā)生的動作。如果某一動作沒有反復(fù)性，就不能用 would，只能用 used to。例如：

When we were boys we used to/would go swimming every summer. 小時候，每到夏天我們都要去游泳。（具有反復(fù)性）

I used to live in Beijing． 我過去住在北京。（沒有反復(fù)性）

（2）used to表示過去經(jīng)常性或習(xí)慣性的動作或狀態(tài)現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)結(jié)束，would則表示有可能再發(fā)生。例如：

People used to believe that the earth was flat．過去，人們總以為地球是扁平的。（現(xiàn)在已不再這樣認(rèn)為）

He would go to the park as soon as he was free．過去，他一有空就去公園。（現(xiàn)在有可能再去）

四、used to與be used to的區(qū)別

used to和be used to 的意思和用法都不相同。used to 表示“過去常?！?，后面接動詞原形。

Alice used to take a walk.愛麗絲過去常常散步。

be used to表示“對……已感到習(xí)慣”、“習(xí)慣于”，to是介詞，后需加名詞或動名詞。

Alice is used to taking a walk. 愛麗絲現(xiàn)在習(xí)慣于散步。
