1. either用作代詞時，意思是“兩者之一”。

either可以單獨使用，也可以和of短語連用。 of后面的名詞應(yīng)表示兩個人或物，這種名詞前面需要有一個物主代詞、指示代詞或定冠詞。例如：

He lived in Nanjing and Wuhan，but he doesnt like either (of the two cities). 他在南京和武漢都住過，但他一個都不喜歡。

“either + of + 名詞詞組”在句中作主語時，謂語動詞一般為單數(shù)形式。例如：

Either of the girls is capable of doing the job. 這兩個姑娘誰都能勝任這個工作。

2. either用作形容詞時，一般指“這個或那個”，有時指“兩個都”(特別是后面接end和side這兩個名詞時)，后面接單數(shù)名詞。例如：

Come on Tuesday or Wednesday. Either day is OK. 周二或周三，哪天來都行。

There was an armchair at either end of the long table. 長桌兩端各有一張?zhí)珟熞巍?/p>

either修飾名詞時，其前或名詞前都不能用物主代詞、指示代詞或定冠詞。如可以說either pen，但不能說the either pen，either my pen。

3. either用作副詞時，意思是“也(不)”，用于否定句。例如：

You dont like it. I dont like it，either. (= You dont like it，neither/nor do I.) 你不喜歡它，我也不喜歡它。
