Susan: I don't have a CLEAR-CUT idea as to what we will talk about this time. Have we CLEANED out our idea bank, or are we CLEARLY ready for fresh, new dialogues?
Suhua: I don't think we can really CLEAN out our ideas, but one thing is CLEAR; that is, I'm not always CLEAR about the distinction between CLEAR and CLEAN. As far as I am concerned, Ihave the floor CLEANED every other day and the table CLEARED after every meal. We wash our faces every morning and night, but once in awhile, I go to the beauty salon2 to have my face CLEANED and CLEARED. But why do we say CLEAR skin?
