On March 26，2007，Bangladesh celebrated its 36^thanniversary of the Independenceand National Day，China and Bangladesh enjoy time tested friendly relations.The bilateral relations.The bilateral relations are characterized by sustained efforts to further broaden the nature andscope of the cooperation.In 2005，China emerged as the biggest soutce of import for Bangladesh，outstrippingthe volume of import from Bangladesh's other immediate neighbors.Bangladesh is the thid largest tradingpartner of China in South Asia.The total bilateral trade volume bas reached beyond US$3 billion in 2006.

In the last couple of years，the most significant contributions China made in Bangladesh were infrastructuredevelopment and capacity building. China and Bangladesh have launched cooperation in many sectors like agricultureextension，water resources development，exploration of natural gas and development of downstream products.The bilateral economic cooperation was opening up of the direct air links between the two capitals.The agreement onestablishment of friendship City relations between Kunming and Chittagong the port city of Bangladesh has been asymbolic initiative in that direction.

As the Chinese enterprises are being encouraged to \"go global\"，they are incresasingly shifting their attentiontowards Bangladesh for its strategic advantages and attractive foreign direct investment packages. And Bangladeshand China develop the cooperation and development in more fields.As from I January，2007 China National TourismAdministration announced that Chinese outbound tour operators could begintourist exchange with authorized tour service providers of Bangladesh.

The utmost priority in the bilateral relations is to further energize the economic and trade cooperation，drawingstrength form our excellent political relations.Bangladesh enterprises would continue to participate in trade promotionevents in China in greater numbers and ther by build sustainable business contacts with their Chinese counterparts.
