Cotton Coucil International(CCI)is the export promotion arm of theNational Cotton Council of America．CCI's mission is to increase ex-port of U.S. cotton，cottonseed andU.S.manufactured cotton productsthrough activities that affect everyphase of the marrketing chain-fromthe initial mill buyer of cotton fiber orpurchaser of U.S.cotton-rich yarnsand fabrics on through to the finalconsumer.

In March，2007，china's ForeignTrade interviewed Mrs．Karin Malm-strom，Director，China of CCI．Shestressed that CCI was ready to makepragmatic efforts to strengthen thecooperation with the Chinese cottonindustry．The follows are her com-ments. By Editor

America is a large cotton export country 85% to 90%of the production is for export．The council has beenestablished for 50 years．It is a trade platform engagedinto promoting the cotton export in the global range，makingfashion shows，consumer promotions，etc．

The Council has developed business in the South America．South-east Asia，ecc．In last year the Council signed an agree-ment with China Cotton Association，marking the close coop-eration between the two sides has been established．I want tostress that our Council and China Cotton Association are notrival，but coopemtive panners．

According to the market analysis，the market demands forcotton in china and India are rising，while the supply is not suf-ficient．Therefore，we should strengthen the cooperation withchina in the cotton supply.

Lacer this month，we will hold an exhibition in Shanghai，which is regarded as a trade bridge and will create a great deal of orders.

In last year，we opened a cotton school in China．helping the clients learnthe trade clauses，how to purchase the cotton that are suitable for their de-mands，and how to improve the risk managements．etc

In last year，in the Cotton Belt，Arizona State，America．we held a cottoncummit，over 30 Chinese companies took part in the summit．introduced theirmaterials resources，supply chains，etc

Nowadays，many Chinese companies have been utilizing the Americancotton，including Black peony in Jiangsu Province，Lanyan in ShandongProvmce，etc. In June，last year，a Quality Team came to China from Amer-cia，invesigated the condition of the Chinese companies which are using theAmeriea cotton.

In September，2007，China Cotton Association will send a delegation toAmerica，to investigate the cotton production in America.

Therefore，I conclude that Amencan cotton industry is ready to strengthenthe cooperation with the Chinese cotton industry despite the curent trade dis-putes between our two countries，especially on the textile issue.
