【摘要】高中英語(yǔ)人教版教材多年來(lái)發(fā)揮了重要作用。同時(shí),教學(xué)工作者也需不斷優(yōu)化教材,使之充分體現(xiàn)國(guó)家課程標(biāo)準(zhǔn)要求,培養(yǎng)高中學(xué)生,為高校輸送品學(xué)兼優(yōu)的畢業(yè)生。

高中英語(yǔ)教材人教版必修三第一單元的Using language Reading and writing—A Sad Love Story 描述了中國(guó)情侶在西方情人節(jié)(Valentines Day)故事。由于在情人節(jié)沒(méi)能交換禮物,男主人公Li Fang更因電視中國(guó)的七巧情人節(jié)牛郎與織女(A sad Chinese story about lost love)故事而傷感。為了襯托Li Fang的傷心,本節(jié)內(nèi)容引用了中國(guó)古老的牛郎與織女的故事,其中織女在人間認(rèn)識(shí)凡人牛郎并相愛(ài),未與家人溝通便非法成婚,并生下一對(duì)兒女。最后因王母娘娘反對(duì)織女與牛郎結(jié)婚才受罰。今天眾多中學(xué)生對(duì)此傳統(tǒng)愛(ài)情故事并不熟悉,更不明白這它的真正寓意。此例欠妥,需要正確指導(dǎo)。
文章是以Li Fang 與女友HuJin未能在情人節(jié)約會(huì)有感而發(fā),而傳說(shuō)的牛郎與織女應(yīng)是支撐因故而異地相戀的故事更為貼切。故事與文中男主人公Li Fang 和女友HuJin的情節(jié)并無(wú)太多的共同之處,僅是比較牽強(qiáng)地把西方與中國(guó)兩種不同文化的情人節(jié)拼湊一起,以便同時(shí)給學(xué)生輸入語(yǔ)言知識(shí)與文化意識(shí)。
HuJin許諾和Li Fang在咖啡廳見(jiàn)面,但未如約,Li Fang就猜疑她和朋友們或在嘲笑他?!癝he could be with her friends right now laughing at him.” “He had looked forward to meeting her all day,and now he was alone with his roses and chocolates,like a fool. ” Li Fang越想越生氣,斷然扭頭回家,“I guess HuJin doesnt love me. Ill just throw these flowers and chocolates away.I dont want them to remind me of her.”So he did. 最后甚至扔掉情人節(jié)禮物——玫瑰花和巧克力。而HuJin依然拿著要送給Li Fang的情人節(jié)禮物,在茶館癡癡等待。最后一段把問(wèn)題拋給了Li Fang,也拋給了讀者,“What would he do ?He had thrown away her Valentines gifts! She would never fogive him.This would not be a happy Valentines Day!”可以看出Li Fang認(rèn)為禮物比見(jiàn)面重要!文中沒(méi)有交待事先雙方約會(huì)的地點(diǎn),無(wú)法確定是誰(shuí)走錯(cuò)地方。既使是HuJin的錯(cuò),Li Fang也應(yīng)該理解包容,而文中第一段“well,he was not going to hold his breath for her to apologize. He would drown his sadness in coffee.”這本不是一個(gè)清醒的舉動(dòng),而后更不應(yīng)扔掉玫瑰花和巧克力。
兩情若是相惜,HuJin應(yīng)不計(jì)較Li Fang是否送她禮物,而Li Fang卻十分在意。種種表現(xiàn)讓讀者認(rèn)為是Li Fang記錯(cuò)地點(diǎn),但在文中沒(méi)有明確表述,讓師生難以判斷,影響的情感態(tài)度教育。若在文中增加結(jié)局,就能較好培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的情感價(jià)值觀,例如:He didnt think HuJin would love him any longer. His world was totally dark. However,to his surprise,HuJin ran to greet him with beautiful roses saying “Happy Valentines Day”. What should he do then? Would she forgive him?
Finally he was bravely honest with her. HuJin knew he had made a mistake about the place to meet. HuJin forgave him,“Honesty is the best policy. You have given me a priceless gift today. ”The couple stared at each other and laughed. They loved each other much better.
教材也不是十全十美的,需要不斷優(yōu)化,在注重語(yǔ)言知識(shí)、語(yǔ)言技能、文化意識(shí)輸入的同時(shí),我們也應(yīng)該注意情感態(tài)度的培養(yǎng),引導(dǎo)學(xué)生正確的價(jià)值觀。
