The Gold Industry Promotes One Belt And One Road Construction

On October 12, the 2017 Belt and Road Gold Industry Summit Forum, co-organized by the China Gold Association, China National Gold Group Corporation and people.com.cn, was held at People's Daily News Agency. It's learned that the gold industry has a first-mover advantage in promoting the Belt and Road strategy. Shaping the gold industry into a guiding industry and giving priority to promoting in-depth cooperation between China and the Belt and Road countries in gold exploration, mining, processing, and consumption, as well as gold investment and trading has important significance for promoting the healthy development of China's gold industry, strengthening national control over gold and safeguarding national financial security.

In her speech, Deputy Inspector of the MIIT Liu Ping highly affirmed the active exploration and practical results China's gold industry has made in the Belt and Road construction and expressed full confidence in the development of China's gold industry. She said, "China's gold industry boasts tremendous advantages in technology and talent, while the Belt and Road countries also enjoy resource advantages. If both sides could find the fields of cooperation that meet each other's needs, they would work together more efficiently and strongly promote the Belt and Road construction."

People.com.cn's President Niu Yibing said in his speech, "The 2017 Belt and Road Gold Industry Summit Forum, co-organized by people.com.cn, the China Gold Association and China National Gold Group Corporation is a beneficial cooperation between people.com.cn and the key enterprises of the Belt and Road construction. The forum aims to provide valuable ideas for the participation of China's gold industry in the Belt and Road construction and for the realization of mutual benefits, discuss the development of the industry and promote more Chinese enterprises to participate in the resource development, production capacity cooperation and market cooperation with the Belt and Road countries.”

Song Xin, President of the China Gold Association, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of China National Gold Group Corporation, said in his speech, "The Belt and Road is a golden road. In recent years, Chinese gold enterprises have actively developed and utilized overseas resources by seizing the opportunity of the Belt and Road construction, and have achieved remarkable results." He also pointed out, "The entire industry needs to reach a consensus on how to promote the golden Belt and Road construction. Only with a consensus can an advancing force be united."

During discussion, the invited guests carried out in-depth exchanges and discussions on two themes: "With the Further Promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative, China's Gold Mining Industry Embraces New Development Opportunities" and "Promoting Supply-side Reforms of Gold Consumption, and Facilitating the Belt and Road Construction". The discussions were centered on a number of topics including the background for the proposal of the Belt and Road initiative, opportunities and challenges facing the gold industry, exploitation of mineral resources of the Belt and Road countries, green development of Chinese gold enterprises, brand building of downstream enterprises of China's gold industry, and artisan spirit of jewelry enterprises. The guests fervently shared their experience and views on these topics as well as put forward suggestions for the development of the Belt and Road initiative and China' gold industry.

Worth noting is that in order to better promote Chinese gold enterprises to further cooperate, integrate resources, proactively take action and strengthen exchanges in the process of "going out", this forum has officially released the Belt and Road Development Consensus of the Gold Industry ("Gold Consensus”). The Gold Consensus calls on Chinese gold enterprises to actively respond to the Belt and Road initiative, and seize the opportunity to cooperate with Belt and Road enterprises in gold resources, market development and international production capacity, injecting vitality into China's gold industry.

At the forum, Zhang Yongtao, Vice President and Secretary General of the China Gold Association, read out the Gold Consensus. And representatives from 6 gold enterprises and institutions: China National Gold Group Corporation, Shandong Gold Group, Zijin Mining Group, Shandong Zhaojin Group, Cuihua Gold and Silver Jewelry Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Gold Exchange came to the stage and jointly launched the Gold Consensus.

The successful holding of this forum has a landmark significance for standardizing the behavior of China's gold industry and promoting the Belt and Road capacity cooperation as well as provides strong support and guarantee for the future exchanges and cooperation between the Belt and Road initiative and the gold industry.

The forum was attended by relevant leaders from a number of departments and units such as the MIIT, Chinese Academy of Engineering, China Gold Association and China National Gold Group Corporation, as well as experts and scholars and business representatives.
